I just can’t get enough. Diese Konstruktion hat es einmal mehr in sich. So einfach und doch so kompliziert. Schon 2010 bei der EXPO Shanghai ließ Großbritannien ein ganz eigenwilliges Objekt aufstellen, die “Samenkathedrale” (“Seed Cathedrale”).
Jetzt auf der EXPO 2015 Mailand haben sie es wieder getan.
Ein überdimensionaler Bienenstock leuchtet nicht nur selbst, er bringt auch die Augen zum leuchten.

Hinter einer Holzwand versteckt sich ein bunt blühender Garten. Von einem Moment zum nächsten verlässt man das hektische Treiben des EXPO-Geländes.

Mitarbeiter in Imkerschürzen begrüßen einen und berichten über die Arbeit und Notwendigkeit der Bienen. Die Bienenbestäubung der Pflanzen ist – ähnlich wie die Luft und das Wasser – Grundvoraussetzung für unsere Nahrung. Ohne sie würde es viele Lebensmittel nicht geben und die Menschheit vor noch größere Probleme stellen, genügend Nahrung zu erhalten, um den Planeten zu ernähren.

Der Garten mit seinen Düften, Geräuschen und natürlich dem riesigen Bienenstock macht den UK-Pavillon zu einem akustischen sowie visuellen Erlebnis – am Abend fast noch schöner als am Tag.
